Sheila Dore, based at Bovis Homes' Coleshill office, will fly out to see her son Ian get married in Los Angeles next month after retiring from her role as sales advisor at the house builder.

The 69-year-old’s loyal service was celebrated with a surprise lunch by colleagues and a warm speech by regional sales director John Heald.

Reflecting on her last day at Bovis Homes, Sheila said: “The party was a complete surprise and it was lovely. Thank you to all my colleagues, who I will miss terribly.

“I feel very privileged that Bovis Homes has given me opportunities over the years. I’ve enjoyed working for the company and that’s why I’ve been here for so long.

“I’ve worked within some great teams and had some brilliant managers and that makes the job so much easier.

“It is very sad to leave a job I love but there are some truly magical moments to look forward to, such as my son Ian’s wedding. I just can’t wait.”

Sheila joined the house builder in 1999 and most recently worked at its Warwick Gates location.

John said: “Sheila has been a wonderful employee for Bovis Homes and a highly valued and respected member of our team.

“Not only will we, at Bovis Homes, miss her, but so will the many customers with whom she has built relationships over the years. We wish her all the best for her retirement.”

Sheila, who previously worked for the Department of Employment in Birmingham, began at Bovis Retirement Homes, based at Castle Bromwich, before transferring over to house sales in 2001.

Over the next 17 years, she worked on locations in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the West Midlands. She was promoted to team leader covering five locations in 2008.
