Albert and his Cheshire team on cloud nine after housebuilding seal for quality
- 07 Dec 20
A former apprentice turned site manager in Cheshire has won a prestigious national honour for housing quality excellence for the second year in a row. Albert Hassall, who joined the industry as a bricklayer, is site manager at the Bovis Homes location, Hazelmere, in Haslington, and has won a rare National House Building Council (NHBC)’s Seal of Excellence Award. The accolade, awarded to the best site managers across the country at virtual ceremonies, follows Albert’s Pride in the Job Quality Award after he was picked from more than 11,000 site managers across the UK. Albert, who has worked at Bovis Homes, now part of Vistry Group, for four years, said: "It's fantastic to get this recognition, this is the second time we have won a Quality Award and a Seal of Excellence in the same year at Haslington. What makes it extra special is the climate we've achieved this in and we have also been working on new house types. "My team is so happy, we're walking around on cloud nine. I’ve never seen them so proud, with their heads held high and big smiles on their faces, we're delighted." Albert was recognised in the North West region and Vistry had three other Seal of Excellence winners in the North East, West and Central regions. Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Vistry, said: “This hugely impressive achievement – for the second year in a row – is a testament to Albert and his team's hard work in what have latterly been extremely challenging times for the industry and country. We look forward to celebrating Albert's terrific accomplishment, as a Seal of Excellence winner.” Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Pride in the Job recognises the UK’s top site managers – with more than 11,000 competing for the annual awards. As well as undergoing spot checks on the day-to-day running of the sites, each candidate is assessed across 38 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls they have in place. Seals of Excellence are then given to the best Quality Award winners.
