Getting Around

The A30 runs through Milborne Port from Shaftesbury to the east, 15 miles away. To the West the A30 leads to Sherborne, three miles and on to Yeovil, eight miles. The popular Dorset coastal resort of Weymouth is only 30 minutes via the B3145 and A352. Train services to Exeter, Salisbury and London run from Sherborne and Templecombe. For air travel both Bournemouth and Bristol airports are about 42 miles away.

Taking time out

Surrounded by countryside and nestling beside the river Gascoigne, Milborne Port is a vibrant village with pubs, a shop, post office, butchers, primary school, library, doctors surgery and a wealth of community groups and leisure clubs. There is also a live cinema, circular walks and the Grade 1 listed St John the Evangelist church hosts concerts and social events. Located close to the development there is a popular restaurant, The Clockspire offering excellent food for special occasions. Nearby Sherborne is brimming with historic buildings with an Abbey dating back to AD 705 and the stunning Sherborne Castle and Gardens built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594.

A trip to the shops

Milborne Port has a range of small shops including newsagents, Cooperative, an award-winning fish and chip shop, beauty salon, butchers and more. Further afield, Sherborne, just a short drive by car offers high street chains, supermarkets including Waitrose and a wealth of independents stores selling antiques, books, art and clothes.

Education

Milborne Port has a primary school; for secondary education, Sherborne offers The Gryphon School as well as a number of independent schools which all offer sixth form facilities. Additional further education as well as higher education options can be found at Yeovil College.
