Water's Edge offers easy access to the A377 to Exeter and the A361 to Taunton which both connect with the M5. Following the A39 south takes you along the coastal roads towards Bideford and Bude (approximately 6 miles and 30 miles away). There is a local bus service from the village and the train station at Barnstaple is on The Tarka Line that provides a rail link with Exeter and the mainline which is also accessible at Tiverton Parkway station.
A trip to the shops
There are local shops in Fremington including two supermarkets, a Post Office and chemist. Barnstaple offers a wider range of shops including the Green Lanes Shopping Centre with over 40 outlets and the historic Panier Market with everything from arts and crafts, local produce and antiques and collectables on offer. There are also a number of restaurants, bars, a cinema and theatre in Barnstaple. For city lovers Exeter is just over an hour away with its Princesshay and Guildhall shopping centres both offering excellent ranges of retail outlets. Boutiques and specialist shops can be found in the Castle and West Quarters.
Taking time out
Unwind with Fremington's breathtaking views of the River Taw and Fremington Quay in a rural setting right on your doorstep. The beautiful and historic St Peter's church is located to the north of the village. Fremington Quay, once a busy shipping yard, has now been redeveloped and has restaurants and other facilities to enjoy the views over the Taw estuary conservation area. Take walks along the picture perfect River Taw and the Tarka Trail, stopping to have lunch at the well-known Quay Café. The stunning Devon coastline is within easy reach for those who enjoy the outdoor life with the beautiful beaches of Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Croyde around half an hour away.
Fremington has a nursery and primary school located near the town centre. There are also a number of schools and community colleges located in Barnstaple such as Sticklepath Primary School and Pilton Community College.
