A commercial manager from Bedford who entered the housing industry after working at a builders’ merchant on Saturdays while at school, is retiring after 35 years at a national housebuilder.
Andy Hurst, commercial manager at Bovis Homes – part of the newly-formed Vistry Group, which also includes Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships – joined the housebuilder as an assistant buyer in 1985 and says he will miss the team spirit most.
Andy, 55, who landed a full-time job at the merchant after leaving Pilgrim Upper School aged 18, soon learnt the ropes before gaining experience in property management and interacting with customers during many roles... more

Sue Ashton, 58, senior sales administrator at Bovis Homes – part of the newly-formed Vistry Group, which also includes Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships – joined the business on her birthday in 1986, as an administrative assistant, using an electronic memory typewriter.

Teacher Jamie Green and his wife Lucy, a mental health nurse, from Witney, used Bovis Homes’ online sales portal to reserve a spacious four-bed home, and the couple and their two young daughters are now getting set to move into Bovis Homes’ Faringdon Fields location, in Faringdon.

Bovis Homes site manager, Lee Woodward has been awarded a coveted second NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in Job Quality Award 2020, for building homes of an exceptional quality at Pebble Beach in Seaton.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Pride in the Job recognises the UKs top site managers – with more than 11,000 competing for the annual awards. As well as undergoing spot checks on the day-to-day running of the sites, each candidate is assessed across 38 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls they have in place.
Lee has been selected as one of the best site managers in the UK, joining 450 other Quality Award winners. Commenting on the announcement, Lee said: “I feel incredibly proud to have won two years on the trot. Clark Rutland, a Shrivenham-based site manager working for Vistry Group at Bovis Homes’ Townsend Place development, is celebrating after receiving a prestigious national award for housebuilding quality.
Clark, a big Swindon Town fan, won the National House Building Council’s Pride in the Job Quality Award, after being selected from more than 11,000 inspected sites across the UK.
