A taste of local life

Getting around

The A45 goes through Flore and gives direct access to junction 16 of the M1 about two miles away. Continue on the A45 for Northampton, eight miles away, or Daventry, six miles away. The A5 is also close by and leads to Towcester, nine miles away, or north towards Rugby. Regular trains run to London Euston and Birmingham New Street run from Long Buckby, six miles away and Northampton eight miles away. Services also take in Rugby, Coventry and Birmingham International Airport. For air travel Birmingham Airport is about 44 miles away.

A trip to the shops

Flore has its own village shop and post office, a local farm shop and a petrol station. About one mile away at Weedon there's a Tesco Express and six miles away in Daventry you'll find Tesco, Waitrose, Co-op and Lidl supermarkets. This bustling market town offers a great mix of national brands and smaller independents, as well as weekly general markets and a monthly farmer's market. In Northampton the Grosvenor Shopping Centre has more than 60 stores and there's a similar number at the Weston Favell Shopping Centre. The town also offers well-known store giants at retail parks such as St James and Nene Valley.

Taking time out

Flore is a lively community running everything from tea dances, Pilates and art classes to youth groups, WI and football - and it has two pubs! Flore's All Saints Church is grade II listed. The Millennium Hall and playing field hosts many local activities, as does the six acre, Brodie Lodge Playing Field. The peaceful River Nene is nearby and the Nene Way and Macmillan Way provide great walks while just a mile from Flore you'll see narrow boats on the Grand Union Canal. Catch the latest blockbusters at Cineworld or Vue in Northampton, or enjoy live comedy, music and drama at the town's Royal & Derngate Theatre. For indoor and outdoor sports, swimming and fitness Daventry leisure Centre has many facilities.

Education

Flore has a pre-school and a day nursery and Flore Church of England Primary School is only half a mile from Glassthorpe Grange. It caters for pupils from 4 to 9 years. For senior pupils there's Campion School, Language College three miles away at Bugbrooke, has sixth form facilities. The Danetre and Southbrook Learning Village near Daventry and The Duston School at Northampton are both 'through schools' catering for pupils from four years to18 years and are about four miles away.

From Daventry

  • Take the B4038 out of the town centre
  • At the roundabout with the A425 take the 2nd exit into London Road, A45
  • Follow the A45 for approximately 4.5 miles
  • Continue along Flore Hill and Flore High Street
  • Glassthorpe Grange can be found on the left hand side.

From M1

  • Leave M1 at junction 16
  • Take the A45 for Daventry
  • Follow the A45 for 2 miles
  • Glassthorpe Grange can be found on the right hand side.
