A much-anticipated new part of the Wootton community is being revealed to the public this weekend, and home hunters are being invited to find out more about the location at a special launch day.

An Exeter-based home builder helped a South Dartmouth Community College student have the experience of a lifetime when she was given the opportunity to represent her local area in this year's World Challenge Community trip.

Image for Archaeological findings reveal Sherford's ancient 6000 year history

Archaeological excavations taking place at Sherford have revealed that the landscape was once home to historic communities, dating back over 6000 years.

The work, funded by the Sherford Consortium and carried out by leading archaeology and heritage practice Wessex Archaeology, alongside Devon County Council and consultants AECOM, has unearthed exciting artefacts that have helped to provide more information on the lives of early Devon settlers, including prehistoric pottery, Bronze Age tools, roundhouses and barrows.

Providing evidence of settlements at Sherford spanning thousands of years, one of the most significant and rare recent findings has been the discovery of a large amount of Neolithic pottery found within a single pit.
