Once home to ancient Stone Age communities, Sherford’s extensive history has been nationally recognised with the development securing a coveted nomination in the Current Archaeology Awards. Celebrating the projects and teams that have made an outstanding contribution to archaeology, Sherford has been nominated in the ‘Rescue Project of the Year’ awards category – and public voting is now open.

The ongoing archaeology work at Sherford is funded by the Sherford Consortium and is being carried out by leading archaeology and heritage practice Wessex Archaeology, alongside Devon County Council and consultants, AECOM.

Youngsters still laugh on the swings at the Big Meadow and narrowboats continue to pass down the River Avon - but the Warwickshire village I grew up in has gone through changes in the 20 years since I moved away.

The father of a two-year-old who has been enjoying a brand-new play area in Bidford-on-Avon, says the £60,000 investment from a local housebuilder is the perfect Christmas present.

Jamie Welch, who lives with his wife Emma and daughter Lana, said he was delighted to move to Bovis Homes’ Bidford Leys location, and that the new play equipment was a great hit with his family and his neighbours.

Wokingham’s 1st Emmbrook Scouts are celebrating the opening of an extension to their headquarters, thanks to local housebuilder Bovis Homes.

The generous donation has enabled the Scouts to construct a covered activity area which will act as a much-needed extension to their Hedley Hall base.

More than 160 festive music lovers attended a housebuilder-backed Christmas concert in Headcorn, raising nearly £2,000 for special causes.

Seasonal notes were hit at ‘A Winter Concert with a Christmas Theme’, held at Headcorn Village Hall, supported by a £500 donation by Bovis Homes.

Image for Christmas comes to Sherford as community celebrates festive light switch-on

Sherford residents, school pupils and the local community turned out in force to spread festive cheer at the town’s annual Christmas light switch-on event. Raising funds for Sherford Vale school, the growing community enjoyed a seasonal sing-along with local choirs from Sherford Vale school and Yealmpton, while gathered around the town’s mammoth 30ft Christmas tree, which took centre stage at Sherford’s first town square.

Organised by the Sherford Consortium - the partnership of developers responsible for the town, Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Taylor Wimpey - the event marked a monumental milestone for the growing community, with over 100 residents now living at the town.

Housebuilding workers and community representatives in Northamptonshire joined together to mark the opening of a much-needed new bypass by Flore at a special celebration.

Bovis Homes’ West Midlands team helped fund the party, at Flore Millennium Village Hall, which saw jubilant residents – young and old – toast the transport infrastructure improvements.

Gloucestershire housebuilder Bovis Homes is set to deliver more than 100 much-needed new homes to Cam, after completing the purchase of land in the village.

The site, located north of Box Road, has outline planning permission for 137 new homes, and forms part of a wider 550-plot development.

The properties will be delivered by Bovis Homes’ Western region, based in Bishop’s Cleeve near Cheltenham.
