A local business has generously sponsored two schools across the UK so they can take part in Walk to School Week (21 – 25 May), the campaign to get children moving more from Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking. 

Bovis Homes has allocated funds so that schools in Ipswich and Norfolk can receive Walk to School Week resource packs for KS1 and KS2 to help get pupils walking.

Plans to turn a former school site in Wantage into a new community of brand new homes, have been given the official go-ahead.

The King Alfred School's East Site, which was formerly home to Year 7 and 8 pupils, was handed over to leading housebuilder Bovis Homes in January. The firm has now received planning approval to begin work to remove the site's disused buildings and construct 150 new homes on the land.

Parents and students are celebrating at a Worcestershire school after securing a top position in the School's Garden Challenge at the RHS Malvern Spring Festival.

The only school from the town to participate, Malvern Wells Primary School created a Tudor-themed garden which saw them bag a Highly Commended award in the annual event. This is the third time the school has taken part in the Festival and this year's result is the best yet!

Sherford's first primary school, Sherford Vale, is now one step closer to welcoming pupils, with construction of the main buildings continuing to progress quickly. Image for Sherford goes starry eyed for street names

Residents of Sherford, the new South Hams community, will find themselves living in streets that are 'out of this world', with the town's road names based upon the theme of constellations. Taking inspiration from the night's sky, Pegasus Place, Aquarius Drive, Libra Avenue and Dorado Street are just some of the first streets to be named at Sherford. 

The main road leading into the new community has also been officially titled Hercules Road. Named after the Greek mythological hero, Hercules is also one of the most famous modern constellations in the solar system. Some of the other new street names include, Aries Lane, Gemini Road, Lynx Road, Scorpio Mews, Cygnus Mews and Centaur Mews.

The construction team behind a new housing development in Warwick has been recognised for the excellent safety standards of their site with a national award.

The build team from Bovis Homes' Warwick Gates location, led by site manager Frank McLane, has been announced as a 'Commended Best Site Award' winner in the National House Building Council's (NHBC) annual Health and Safety Awards. Children at a school in Wymondham have been learning all about local wildlife, thanks to an initiative from national house builder Bovis Homes and ecologists from The Ecology Consultancy.

Children from Plymouth primary school, Goosewell Academy, had the opportunity to get hands on with history during a visit from Sherford archaeologists. Sharing details about just some of the exciting discoveries made during the construction of the new Devon community, over 150 children got to take a close look at some exciting ancient artefacts found by the expert team.

Led by Wessex Archaeology, the team responsible for uncovering Sherford's history on behalf of the Sherford Consortium, the children had exclusive access to prehistoric artefacts, as well as finding out what it is like to take part in an archaeological dig. The company's Mercia region has successfully completed the purchase of land off Haygate Road to the south west of the town in a joint acquisition with regional house builder Anwyl Homes.

The site, currently has an Outline Planning Permission for 290 new homes and associated infrastructure. The Reserved Matters are expected to be completed in the Autumn of this year.

Six huge bridge beams were lifted into place above the railway line at Stanton Cross in Wellingborough over the weekend of 25-26 February.

An archaeological excavation commissioned and funded by Bovis Homes in Soham has discovered that the 87 new homes currently being built at the Cambridgeshire site are not the first to have been constructed on the land.

The first apprentices are now on site at Sherford, securing their roles after successfully applying to be part of the Sherford Skills Training Scheme.
